How to use a Hario V60!

Brewing Guide: Hario V60 Pour Over
EQUIPMENT:
- Hario V60 Dripper: The cone-shaped brewer.
- Hario V60 Filters: Paper filters designed specifically for the V60.
- Kettle: For boiling water.
- Gooseneck Kettle: Highly recommended for precise pouring.
- Coffee Grinder: Burr grinder for consistent particle size.
- Scales: For accurate measurements of coffee and water.
- Timer: To track brewing time.
- Mug or Server: To collect the brewed coffee.
- Stirring Spoon: For gently stirring the coffee grounds.
RECIPE:
- Coffee: 20g (medium-fine grind)
- Water: 300ml
- Water Temperature: 92-96°C
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:
Prepare:
- Gather all your equipment.
- Place a filter in the V60 dripper and rinse thoroughly with hot water. Discard the rinse water.
- Place the dripper on top of your mug or server.
- Grind 20g of coffee to a medium-fine grind (similar to fine sand).
Bloom:
- Add the ground coffee to the filter.
- Start your timer.
- Pour a small amount of hot water (about 50g) over the grounds to saturate them evenly.
- Wait for 30 seconds to allow the coffee to “bloom” (release CO2).
Pour in Circles:
- Gradually pour the remaining water in a circular motion, ensuring even saturation.
- Maintain a consistent flow rate, avoiding over-saturation.
- Pour until you reach the desired water volume (300ml).
Brew and Enjoy:
- Allow the coffee to drip through completely.
- Once the dripping has stopped, remove the dripper.
- Discard the used grounds and filter.
- Enjoy your freshly brewed pour over coffee!
