Honduras Frutos Rojos is sourced from the mountainous Celaque region in Lempira, one of the most remote and least developed areas of Honduras. This rugged, high-altitude area, named after the Celaque National Park which boasts the country’s highest peak at 2,849 meters, provides a unique microclimate ideal for growing exceptional coffee. Surely there are easier places to source coffee because access is difficult, but the quality potential is great.
It is on the westernmost corner of Honduras bordering Guatemala and El Salvador within the departments of Lempira, Ocotepeque and Copan on the Sierra Celaque mountain range.
The climate in Celaque is notably dry, allowing for traditional patio drying, a rarity in Honduras.
The blend is produced by small farmers who adhere to organic and Rainforest Alliance practices, ensuring both quality and sustainability.
The Frutos Rojos blend is curated from the highest-scoring lots in the region, delivering an exquisite cup with tasting notes of red fruits, grape, honey, and brown sugar.
With an SCA score of 86.5 points, this coffee offers a bright, fruit-forward profile balanced by a natural sweetness.
